Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

A complete application contains:
	• Completed Application Form
	• Personal Statement
	• Curriculum Vitae
	• Medical School Transcript D
	• Dean's Letter
	• Three Letters of Recommendation
	• USMLE Transcripts or equivalent
	• ECFMG Status Report (foreign medical graduates only) or equivalent
	• Current California Medical Board Postgraduate Training Authorization Letter
	• Photograph (optional, but very helpful at the time of ranking)
	• Medical License (if applicable)
	• Visa Status and/or Citizenship Status or Record

You are encouraged to file your application via the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS).

Deadline to receive applications: December 15, 2008.

As soon as your completed application is received, Sharon Greer, our Program Coordinator, will schedule an interview.

We will interview prospective candidates beginning November 1, 2008 through January 31, 2009.

We have not established cutoff scores or defined year of graduation from medical school, however, we do prefer applicants with USMLE score 200 or above, recent medical school graduation and good letters of recommendation.

For International Medical Graduates

We do sponsor J-1 visas. Generally, we do not sponsor H-1 visas but will consider on a case-by-case basis.

It is helpful to have U.S. experience, but it is not required.

We will grant an interview without the Evaluation Status Letter from the Medical Board of California, but you will need to bring to the interview a copy of the acknowledgment receipt from the Medical Board indicating that they have received your application.

International medical graduates requesting residency training are required by State law to qualify for full licensure in the State of California. We require that you have your ECFMG Certificate, have taken and passed your USMLE Steps I and II, and have no stipulations on your Evaluation Status Letter from the Medical Board of California prior to commencing training.
